Makenzine Bonney
Makenzie, a proud First Nations actress, recently graduated with a Diploma of Musical Theatre from NIDA as part of the 2023 cohort. Her vibrant presence was most recently showcased as Sue Snell in Ignite Theatre Company’s inaugural production of CARRIE: The Musical. During her time at NIDA, Makenzie took on the role of Poly in Shanty Soirée, a production by Kurt Phelan and David Gardos. Additionally, she delivered a standout performance in a trio at the 2023 NIDA Gala, RAISE THE CURTAIN, where she performed “Where?” by Kate Miller-Heidke.
Makenzie’s theatre credits include a variety of notable roles. She was featured in Packemin’s 2023 season of Les Misérables under the direction of Luke Joslin and played Rusty in Footloose (2023) as well as Cosette in Les Misérables (2022) with Arcadians Theatre Group. Her earlier roles include Moana in Moana Jr., Ursula in The Little Mermaid Jr., and Gertrude McFuzz in Seussical. Her performance as Princess Fiona in AMTC’s Shrek Jr. earned her nominations for two CAT Awards, highlighting her exceptional talent and dedication to her craft.
